Indianapolis Modern

Close friends of mine recently built a custom home in Indianapolis and the result is a stunning residence that is both cleanly modern and incredibly welcoming. The 3,000 square foot home is located in the historic Herron Morton Place neighborhood of Indianapolis, a vital area that is urban living personified and rapidly growing. When initially meeting with their architect, Rob Collier of Rottmann Collier Architects, they expressed their desire for a unique design that functioned as a warm gathering place. Collier achieved this with an open floor plan, neutral yet complementary materials and a sharp attention to detail and form. The photos here are just a glimpse inside the ground floor of this beautiful home. Shown at the top is the sunken living room, which features a brick accent wall with fireplace, porcelain tile flooring and a dark gray dropped ceiling. The center of the home functions as the dining room and kitchen, with the floating staircase in the background and gorgeous hickory flooring. The darker walnut kitchen cabinets contrast with the flooring perfectly and the white Caesarstone waterfall countertop forms the island, which anchors the kitchen. Modern furnishings complete the aesthetic while providing comfortable areas in which to entertain. Many thanks to the homeowners for sharing their fantastic vision!
