Lincoln Park Single Family Home Renovation

Chicago, IL

Built in the 1990's, this single family home had plenty of square footage, but a segmented layout that created a choppy feel. The dated finishes contributed to dark spaces. We began by reconfiguring the first floor to allow for a central kitchen, open to a family room at the rear. The light-filled double height space at the front entry now houses the formal living and dining rooms. On the second floor, a loft space overlooking the living room has been enclosed and transformed into a nautical nursery. Dramatic, floral wallpaper completes the transformation of the guest room and makes an appearance in the relocated powder room as well. The master bedroom utilizes reclaimed wood paneling at the vaulted ceiling to draw the eye upward and a new dressing room completes the space. At the exterior, newly painted brick lightens up the facade and provides much needed contrast with the black window frames. New exterior light fixtures and a new painted brick planter complete this renovation.
